WHAT'S LEFT TO ASK (read: US)?

Okay, so, there’s this girl.

(I can see all eyes on me. Beberapa pembaca bahkan sudah siap untuk bersiul, atau mungkin mengerang, ‘aww...’)

Hehehe, folks, I’m not gonna talk anything about romance. It’s just a story that’s... a lot like romance. :D

Begini ceritanya... So this girl, let’s say, I used to fancy her so much. Yeah, she’s my ex. Yeah, my EX, what’s wrong with that? Bukannya lebih fair kalau menyebutnya ‘my ex’ daripada bersembunyi di balik sebutan kepura-puraan yang sering dipakai banyak orang yaitu ‘my friend’ ya? *jleb jleb jleb, I’m stabbing all you guys*

Okay, jadi, ceritanya, malam minggu barusan, mantan gue yang satu ini datang berkunjung ke kota gue, katanya sih pengen refreshing dari kesibukan sehari-harinya di kota sebelah. So, sebagai seseorang yang sudah jadi semacam ‘past-tense’ buat dia, gue nemenin dia jalan. Let’s say, we had a wonderful Saturday Night. We had dinner at my friend’s cafe. After that, we went to a mall and met my other friends to have wonderful time together. Singkatnya, itu adalah malam Minggu paling berbeda dari malam-malam minggu gue yang lain sebelumnya. Sangat menyenangkan.

The problem is, if you take a look at my situation from a ‘romance Hollywood movie’ point of view, you know, the scene where the male and female protagonists are having some catching-up moments after a painful break-up, many of you will predictably shout, ‘go get her back!’ I would like to say, ‘hey, I’d love to, but it’s not that easy’.

That Saturday night, I guess, I will just call it a night. There were moments when me and her smiled and laughed together. Teased at each other. Exchanged stories to catch up the times we missed after the break-up. Looked at each other’s eyes and wondered if the feeling was still there. Bothered by the possibility to get or send a good-night kiss. All those sentimental feelings.

Karena aku menyimpulkan, mungkin bukan hanya kita saja yang butuh untuk mengingat-ingat masa lalu. Masa lalu pun mungkin sesekali perlu datang mengunjungi kita untuk bernostalgia.

Dan setelah itu, ia boleh kembali ke tempatnya, yaitu... kembali menjadi sesuatu yang telah berlalu...
